3 Reasons Why You Need A Journal

Don’t you have goals? Dreams and aspirations?

Aren’t you afraid you might not know your purpose because you’ve never sat down to reflect on the what-ifs and possibilities?

Do you even have an imagination you want to explore?

These are all valid questions that can be answered by simply journaling. So why haven’t you done it yet? The benefits are truly endless on what one can accomplish when able to record ideas and thoughts.

Whether you’re doing it on a blank piece of paper (which I hope you’re not) or a perfectly crafted, fun-size notebook, here are some suggestions on where to start, depending on where you are at.

Journal for Gratitude: Have you ever heard the great quote by Neale Donald Walsh, “The Struggle ends When Gratitude Begins”. Being grateful and reflecting on good and positive thoughts helps reduce stress, improves your mental health, and reduces depression.

I don’t know about you, but these past two years have helped me reflect and appreciate my well-being and the good in my life. A Gratitude Journal will always remind you why you purchased it, to be thankful despite your circumstances, you can breathe and write, and your purpose is not over.

Character Journaling Notebook: A journal for doodling, note-taking, expressing, or character building. The fun thing about journaling is writing down the weird things we think of that might be hard to admit to others. Our imagination is what creates mermaids, princesses, Syfy, and scary horror films.

Did you know we are the most creative when we are children? Can you imagine not nurturing the child in you and being serious all the time? Oh yeah, that’s right, we do it every day.

Before I lose you with my rant…Your imagination is everything. The child in you, the inventor, storyteller, entrepreneur, actress, your imagination sometimes leads to your purpose. Not exploring it will be a disservice on your part. If it’s healthy and doesn’t hurt yourself or anyone, take a chance and explore what this can mean to yourself or the world if this thought or idea comes to life.

The next one is specific and personal. This is how it all started for me.

30 Day Breakup Handbook: Prayer Journal Inspired by GOD: So many relationships ended during the Pandemic, I can’t be the only one. However, being in the presence of your significant other for an obscene amount of time can reveal some issues that you casually ignored while dating.

The social isolation and loneliness during this time affected my mental health and spirit. The only way I sought to overcome this phase was by journaling and praying. Reading specific passages from the bible helped me find common ground between what was happening in my life and ways I can overcome it with quotes, stories, and scripture. Based on my personal, I created something similar to share with others who may need a spiritual guide on how to move on after a failed past love. Honestly, noting helps you with overcoming, like growing your faith from a mustard seed. Hoping you have something better and thanking God for his renewed grace daily.

So what are you waiting for? I spoke my truth, now write down yours. Don’t Just Sit There! Start Journaling!
